Job Summary
Law School proctors are responsible for proctoring students' final exams. They ensure the efficient administration of exams and are expected to remain calm and professional at all times. Final exams occur in May and December. Exams are not held on weekends. Proctors must be available to work most days during the exam period and attend orientation sessions before the exam period.
Responsibilities
Supervise individuals and classrooms according to strict guidelines to maintain the integrity of the Law School exams. Clearly articulate test-related information, including instructions to groups. Ensure students comply with the Honor Code and follow test instructions throughout the exam. Assist in passing out, collecting, and securing testing and related materials. May serve as relief (supervising the room while an active proctor is on a break). Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Exam Dates: Tuesday, December 2, 2025 through Friday, December 12, 2025 Mandatory Orientation: Thursday, November 13, 2025 Proctors must be available for at least 7 of the exam dates. Actual work assignments depend on the final exam schedule of the Law School.

Shift #1: 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM (end time approximate) Shift #2: 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM (end time approximate)
Compensation and Hiring Details
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary for this position is $16.50. St. John's University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
