The Senior Software Engineer - Frontend will strategize, design, and execute the user interface and experience for a single-page application dedicated to early wildfire detection. Responsibilities include collaborating closely with product, design, and backend teams to align on requirements, design, and rollout. We seek someone who is naturally curious, eager to grow and help others grow, and who thrives in collaborative, people-centered environments. The role requires delivering thoroughly tested, accessible solutions while adhering to best practices and ensuring cross-device compatibility. What You’ll Do
Feature Development: Lead the development of new features, ensuring they align with project goals and enhance overall functionality. Code Maintenance: Maintain and enhance the existing codebase to optimize extensibility and address evolving requirements. Code Review: Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain code quality and adherence to best practices. Code Quality Advocate: Promote readable code with predictable patterns to enhance collaboration and maintainability. Prioritize accessibility, security best practices, and testability. Best Practices Evolution: Actively contribute to evolving coding standards and best practices within the development team. Technology Evaluation: Participate in evaluating new technologies and tools to ensure effective solutions aligned with project needs. Tech Debt Prioritization: Collaborate in prioritizing and addressing technical debt to maintain a healthy codebase. Legacy Application Management: Contribute to our existing application while balancing technical debt and feature delivery. Expert Debugging Skills: Possess strong debugging capabilities to identify and resolve issues promptly, ensuring the stability of React applications. REST API Integration: Proficient in utilizing RESTful APIs to enable frontend-backend communication in React apps. What You’ll Bring
5+ years of Frontend Engineer experience with a robust background in developing frontend applications. Technical Proficiency: HTML, CSS, TypeScript, React, React Testing Library, Jest, and a state management solution (Redux or Zustand; we use Recoil). Design System and Component Library Proficiency: Experience with Design Systems (e.g., Material Design) and component libraries such as Material-UI. Effective Communication: Ability to communicate effectively within the team and collaborate to achieve project goals. Cross-functional Team Experience: Experience working with QA, Product, and Backend teams. Must be located in the Pacific or Mountain time zone. Nice-to-haves
Experience with HTML Canvas Experience working with frontend monorepos Experience with Storybook Experience with mapping technologies like Mapbox Experience with fullstack development Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP and AWS) Broad understanding of web technologies, APIs, databases, and both frontend and backend languages (TypeScript/React, Java, Python) $150,000 - $182,000 a year. Final salary is based on qualifications, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and location. This position is eligible for stock options.
