An opportunity for a Cloud Engineer who can mesh technical expertise with business acumen to navigate public and private cloud computing needs, including infrastructure design, maintenance, support and planning. The role requires familiarity with aaS technologies, platforms and applications, and knowledge of how to tailor these attributes to support the organization’s security and efficiency. The engineer will contribute to evolving cloud capabilities and keep pace with developments to support expansion. Essential Job Functions
Work with the engineering team to identify and implement optimal cloud-based solutions for the company. Plan, design, and deploy cloud-based applications and infrastructure. Manage cloud environments in alignment with company security guidelines. Deploy and debug cloud initiatives as needed following best practices throughout the development lifecycle. Educate teams on new cloud initiatives and provide associated training as required. Apply strong problem-solving skills to anticipate and resolve issues before they escalate. Lead and develop best practices for the larger Cloud Virtual Team. Build and design web services in the cloud, including setting up geographically redundant services. Orchestrate and automate cloud-based platforms across the company. Stay current with industry trends and recommend actions to help the company excel. Assume on-call responsibility for after-hours operations support according to schedule. Complete assigned ServiceNow support tickets and service requests within department standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/Technology/Computer Science (or equivalent work experience). Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect and/or AWS Cloud Security Certification are preferred; other cloud-related certifications are a plus. Three+ years’ experience in software development using languages such as Java, Python, C++ or Ruby. Experience with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Three+ years in a Cloud Engineer role or related position; knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC. Strong understanding of networking and internet protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP) and distributed networks. Database experience including SQL Server (including PaaS). Azure-related experience is desirable, including Azure Administrator and/or Azure Architect Technologies certifications. Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably Azure. Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages. Three+ years of designing and supporting Azure environments (IaaS and PaaS). Extensive experience with open-source technology, software development and system engineering. Three+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (YAML, JSON, Terraform, etc.). Interest in Cloud Engineering and its impact on business practices; experience with Cloud Management Platforms (e.g., vRealize, Terraform, Azure Cloud Management). Three+ years building and managing Windows or UNIX/Linux servers; strong teamwork and collaboration. Excellent time and project management, customer service and interpersonal skills; strong diagnostic and communication abilities (written and oral). Experience in information systems/technology within a health care provider organization is desired. Education

$93,600.00-$154,440.00 Salary At Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity. The pay range indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
