Burn Center Director. The Raymond Springer Endowed Director of Burn is a unique opportunity for an exceptional, ambitious, energetic, and innovative leader to direct and expand the clinical, educational and research programs nationally, within Loyola, and within the larger Loyola/Trinity Health System network. The Burn Center Director works closely with the Department of Surgery leadership and hospital administration to develop and implement strategic plans to create well rounded and efficient clinical services. This individual is also responsible for recruitment and retention of high-quality faculty and is a visible and accessible mentor and role model to all division faculty, as well as planning and leading initiatives to facilitate clinical quality, academic and clinical productivity, and enhancement of patient satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities The Loyola Burn Center is located in Maywood, Illinois and is verified by both the ABA and ACS. The Burn Center Director directs and expands clinical, educational and research programs, collaborating with the Department of Surgery leadership and hospital administration to implement strategic plans for high-quality clinical services, faculty recruitment and retention, and mentorship of division faculty. The Director leads initiatives to enhance clinical quality, academic productivity, and patient satisfaction. The center has a multi-disciplinary care team and aligns with the Burn Shock Trauma Research Institute (BSTI), supporting basic, translational and clinical trial activities.

Organization and Programs The BSTI programs include ongoing research in wound healing, sepsis, acute kidney injury and alcohol-associated injuries. There are NIH T32 training grants within BSTI in addition to NIH, DOD, and other funding totaling over $6.1M (FY14), placing Loyola Surgery at a high national rank in NIH funding among departments of surgery. The Burn Center operates within Loyola Medicine, a Trinity Health system, with multiple hospitals and locations offering comprehensive care.

Qualifications

Medical degree and board certification by the American Board of Surgery with added qualifications in surgical critical care and completion of a one-year fellowship in burn treatment. In lieu of fellowship, at least 5 years of experience in a multidisciplinary burn program.

Strong track record of research with extramural funding preferred.

Interest in teaching residents and medical students; eligible for Associate or Full Professor rank.

Salary and Benefits This opportunity offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including:

Competitive starting compensation between $159,000 – $985,945
