Responsibilities
Identify and manage a portfolio of annual and major gift prospects, including individuals with affiliation or giving interest to the USD Athletics program.
Cultivate, solicit and steward annual and major gift donors.
Identify and evaluate potential donors; design and implement prospect cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.
Maintain relationships with university officials, volunteer leaders, and other stakeholders to support fundraising strategies and donor engagement; prepare draft documents, proposals, and communications as needed.
Develop, manage and execute campus fundraising campaigns, including personal cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of faculty and staff.
Assist in planning and coordination of special events and game-day hospitality and/or premium seating areas across USD facilities.
Development Operations
Assist in planning and production of the Athletics Development website, publications, brochures, and related materials.
Create and produce donor pledge and gift agreements as needed.
Maintain prospect research and donor management data; update information in Advance; support reporting and analysis.
Support the gift entry process to ensure timely processing and receipting; identify data issues and assist with cleanups.
Special Conditions of Employment Athletics Development is a complex division with responsibilities to the university and various constituencies. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, utilize tact and discretion, and maintain confidentiality is required.
Background check:
Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
Degree Verification Requirement:
Official transcripts will be required for degree verification.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
One year of related experience required.
Experience in nonprofit development or sales and/or higher education, preferably in NCAA Div. 1 Athletics.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong listening and thinking skills.
Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and proofreading.
Teamwork and leadership skills; experience managing teams.
Strategic thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, and proactive mindset.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to adapt to unanticipated situations and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Advanced experience with Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn new programs quickly.
Commitment to quality service and confidentiality with campus administrators, trustees, or donors.
Friendly, mature, positive attitude and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications:
Playing experience or participation in intercollegiate athletics preferred.
Performance Expectations
Meet and achieve fundraising metrics and goals related to prospecting, donor contacts, visits, and gifts.
Ability to initiate, lead, coordinate, and complete projects with minimal supervision.
Independent judgment in decision-making; global thinking when appropriate.
Comfort with public speaking and effective interpersonal relations with university constituents.
Identify problems and opportunities; provide appropriate recommendations and action.
Proficiency with donor database/prospect management systems.
Familiarity with USD policies, procedures, and campus history; adaptable to campus norms and protocols.
Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
Compensation and Benefits $5,720 - 5,916.67 per month; Excellent Benefits
