Lead Analytics Engineer !
About the role
As a
Lead Analytics Engineer , you will play a key role in shaping the way Symetra uses data. You'll be responsible for designing and maintaining clean, reliable, and well-modeled datasets that serve as the foundation for analytics across the organization. As a subject matter expert in Symetra's data models, you'll provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the growth of our analytics teams. You'll also identify and drive opportunities to build impactful data products that support and accelerate business objectives.
What you will do
Design, build, and deploy advanced data models to support a wide range of use cases across various products and business domains
Develop and maintain the data analytics platform, contributing to its overall technical architecture and design
Solve complex data integration challenges using efficient ETL patterns, scalable frameworks, and effective query techniques, working with both structured and unstructured data sources
Build a strong understanding of Symetra's products, workflows, and business context to proactively identify and enable future analytics opportunities
Provide technical leadership by promoting best practices, standardizing techniques, and guiding the broader Data Analytics community

Compensation
Salary Range: $125,000 - $208,400 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.
Who You Are:
High School Diploma is required
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field-or equivalent professional experience (5+ years)-is strongly preferred
You bring expert-level skills in SQL and proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages
You have hands-on experience with dbt for data transformations and a strong understanding of data modeling and large-scale data environments
You're comfortable working with imperfect or messy data and can derive meaningful insights from it
You have a solid grasp of ETL development and data warehousing concepts
You excel at collaborating with both technical team members and business partners to design effective data solutions
You're curious, eager to learn, and communicate clearly and confidently across diverse audiences
