Key Responsibilities
- Promote safety culture through leadership, actions, and championing safety programs.
- Oversee daily operations to support productivity, efficiency and deliver of quality goods and services.
- Manage inventory of goods and raw materials for the site.
- Control expenses and capital spending to meeting production goals within the plant budget.
- Guide, supervise, and evaluate the performance of direct reports.
Accountable For
- Creating a positive work environment and promoting a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Cultivating a culture of constant compliance.
- Regularly communicating with the Plant Manager (or Assistant Plant Manager if at site) regarding problems or issues impacting production.
- Managing and organizing daily production operations and personnel to optimize productivity, safety, efficiency, quality, customer service, and profitability.
- Ensuring compliance with all animal feed and food safety, food defense, and GMP activities in the production area and maintaining documentation for all production operations.
- Assisting with the Management of Change (MOC) program and the capital budget planning.
- Overseeing work orders, bulk salt loading, and operating, monitoring, and repairing pollution control systems.
- Analyze productivity, identify issues, and achieve production goals using operational metrics.
- Ordering packaging and raw materials, maintaining inventory, and scheduling production.
- Ensuring customer shipments are loaded onto trucks and rail cars safely and efficiently.
- Maintaining knowledge of processes and equipment to ensure efficient plant production operations.
- Collaborating with maintenance teams to ensure preventative maintenance is completed on schedule and equipment uptime meets demand.
- Managing inventory of goods and raw materials.
- Collaborating across departments to handle emergencies complaints and resolve issues quickly.
- Ensuring compliance with state Environmental Protection Agencies
- Assisting with preparing the site and production records for MSHA audit readiness.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day activities of direct reports in line with department and production goals.
- Understand and consistently apply all applicable local and regulatory guidelines.
- Communicate and establish clear goals and deliverables for direct reports and department.
- Adhere to approved budgets in meeting department goals.
- Provide ongoing, constructive feedback for all assigned staff.
- Handle employee discipline according to company policy.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mine engineering, or related field preferred.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in mining, light industrial, salt, or food industries.
- Strong working knowledge of bulk solids handling equipment in corrosive environments.
- Advanced knowledge of MSHA and FSMA safety regulations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated proficiency in SAP or other ERP software.
Preferred/Plus
- Maintenance & Reliability experience
- CAD software experience
- Certifications such as Lean Sigma, Six Sigma, and JIT
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.

- Occasional travel – up to 5%.
- Work Schedule: Monday through Friday with occasional weekends. Hours vary as needed.
