As a
Senior Email Copywriter , you\'ll be a key player in shaping the voice of our client\'s brand through high-impact email communications. Based in the Washington, D.C. area, you\'ll be responsible for crafting compelling, clear, and on-brand copy for a wide range of emails, from large-scale marketing campaigns to targeted lifecycle journeys and essential transactional messages. This role requires a blend of creative storytelling and data-driven strategy to engage diverse audience segments, drive user action, and meet key performance goals. You\'ll work closely with a cross-functional team of designers, CRM specialists, and strategists to create cohesive and effective email communications that elevate the brand and delight customers. Location: Washington, Washington, D.C. | Job type: Contract | Salary: $45 - 50 per hour | Work hours: 9am to 5pm | Education: Bachelors
Responsibilities
Write and edit compelling, on-brand copy for various email types, including promotional campaigns, automated lifecycle series, and critical transactional messages. Develop and A/B test engaging subject lines and preheader text to maximize open rates and user engagement. Adapt brand voice and messaging to resonate with different audience segments, ensuring relevance and personalization. Collaborate with visual designers, CRM teams, and marketing strategists to create holistic, high-performing email communications. Balance creative ideation with performance data to optimize content and achieve campaign objectives.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a senior-level copywriter, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful email marketing campaigns. Expertise in writing concise, high-impact copy that drives user action and aligns with brand voice. Deep understanding of email marketing principles, including performance metrics, A/B testing, and accessibility guidelines. Familiarity with major email marketing platforms such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Experience writing for all stages of the customer journey, from acquisition and onboarding to retention and re-engagement. Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. Location in the Washington, D.C. area is preferred.
