Overview
The Union Utility Engineer is an entry-level engineering position. The Union Utility Engineer will be assigned work under the direction of the Chief Engineer, Assistant Chief Engineers or Stationary Engineers. This is an excellent opportunity to share your experience and expertise while learning valuable skills. Key Responsibilities
Repair restroom equipment such as toilets, soap dispensers and flushometers. Repair registers and radiators. Replace lamps and clean light fixtures. Remove and replace ceiling tiles. Complete minor repairs on furniture and floors. Maintain and/or replace door hardware. Repair floor maintenance equipment. Complete maintenance painting in equipment rooms, cooling towers and other building facilities. Replace air filters in the HVAC equipment. Perform general cleaning in mechanical spaces and perimeter induction units. Clean equipment in engine room and shop. Perform miscellaneous repair work requiring the limited use of hand tools. Replace/inspect fire extinguishers. General plumbing repairs and maintenance. Clean air vents and roof drains. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Proper lifting of equipment, materials & tools up to 50 lbs. Ability to hear and see alarms, detect changes in noise levels of operating or rotating equipment, and use portable radios and cell phones as necessary. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, standing or sitting; climbing stairs and ladders. Working in positions such as on ladders or catwalks, with hands above or below head. Working outdoors, sometimes exposed to inclement weather, as Plant Equipment and Building Infrastructure are located on the ground and rooftops. Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background Minimum of three (3) relevant work experience and/or trade school training. Driver's license and clean driving record High School Diploma or GED equivalent Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong Communication Skills Excellent time management skills with the ability to problem solve down to the root cause. Highly organized with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency with Personal Computers/PDA’s/Smart Phones to operate within the Work Order System, Email and training. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Estimated compensation
