Locum Optometrist – Contract Opportunity
Assignment:
November 2025 – June 2026 Pay:
$120–$140/hr | Schedule:
(Mon: 2 hrs; Tues–Fri: 9 hrs) Call:
None About the Role
We are seeking a
licensed, Board-Certified Optometrist
to join a well-established community health practice for a locum contract. The Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye care and urgent care services, working closely with a primary care team while managing a moderate patient load. Patient Volume:
~16/day (2 per hour) Practice Setting:
Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) Procedures & Case Types: Comprehensive eye exams & refractions Contact lens fittings & training Dry eye evaluations & vision therapy Glaucoma monitoring & diabetic eye exams Post-op cataract & LASIK co-management Urgent care for red eye, flashes, floaters, and eye pain Fundus exams, OCT interpretation, visual field testing, tonometry, slit-lamp exams Foreign body removal & EMR documentation Support:
You will have one optometric technician to assist with patient care. Candidate Requirements
Maine license
or eligibility to obtain Board Certification
(National Board of Examiners in Optometry) – Required DEA
– Required BLS certification
– Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited optometry program Experience:
Minimum 2 years preferred (1 year considered for strong candidates) Comfortable providing care in
rural, community-focused settings Perks & Benefits
