Description
Under the direct supervision of the Intake and Transportation Coordinator and in coordination with the Nutrition Program Coordinator perform routine work in the transport of meals to housebound elders ;
transport elders from home to the Senior Center and other local destinations. Responsibilities
Primary purpose is to provide transportation to seniors and eligible clients to access transportation. Oversee daily runs/townie trips/grocery shopping /out of town trips. Deliver meals by town owned vehicles to housebound elders and transport elders from their homes to the senior center and other destinations using town vehicles, including a sedan or lift-equipped van; collect donations; report any special situations to supervisor. Provide door to door services as required on an individual basis, at minimum a curb to curb service. Maintain safe food handling and passenger safety procedures; maintain logs and other records as needed; maintain vehicle through regular cleaning and maintenance schedule checks following prescribed routine; report needed repairs to supervisor. Participate in staff meetings, supervisory meetings and regular training and in-service events as required.
Perform other pick-up and delivery services as required.
Maintain vehicles, fill with gas, clean interior and exterior. Coordinate daily run schedule/townie trips/grocery shopping utilizing My senior center, to ensure the most efficient routes are utilized. When necessary make calls to the seniors regarding scheduled rides, modifications and changes. Work in conjunction with other drivers to meet the complex needs of Andover Elder services Perform related duties as required. Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
General knowledge of the Town street system. Possession of a valid driver's license required; safe driving record; CORI check required; drug screening, TB test, CPR required. Remain current with MassDOT training requirements. Skill in the driving of a 14 passenger vehicle. Ability to interact with elders in a positive and sensitive manner. Ability to utilize van/bus wheelchair lift. Education and Experience
Duties require High School diploma; experience in passenger transport or light truck delivery service desirable; or any equivalent combination of education or experience. Must have a good driving record.
Supplemental Information Physical Elements
Regularly operates a vehicle; requires safe driving skills and habits; drug-free. Exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including rain, sleet, snow and ice conditions. Moderate physical effort required in the periodic lifting of food coolers.
