About the Role We’re looking for a product designer to join our Time Tools team, a key area of growth for Gusto. As a core design contributor, you’ll partner with PM, Engineering, and Data peers to shape high-priority initiatives and design experiences that help small business owners and their employees manage time with confidence and ease. Team and Product Area Time and Attendance is our flagship add-on designed to complement Gusto Payroll. The team’s scope includes: Time tracking: employees log hours via web, app, or kiosk, supporting remote and flextime work. Scheduling: create and manage employee schedules, accommodating shifts and swaps. Time off policies and requests: automate time off management with complex PTO policies and labor-law compliance. PTO balances: track time off and sync with payroll and calendars. Project tracking: track time spent on tasks and analyze progress. Responsibilities

Translate customer insights into scalable workflows for scheduling, attendance, and compliance. Design and refine multi-surface experiences (web, mobile, kiosk) for managers and employees. Partner with PM, Engineering, and Data to define problems, set priorities, and deliver value. Champion and evolve the design system to improve platform cohesion. Balance long-term vision with near-term execution, navigating ambiguity and evolving customer needs. Provide thoughtful critique and mentorship to peers to elevate craft quality. Qualifications

Experience: 8+ years in product design. Product acumen: ability to collaborate with PM and Engineering to shape priorities and roadmaps. Craft excellence: portfolio showing accessible, performant end-to-end product design across web and mobile. Customer empathy: skill at uncovering and translating customer needs for small businesses and hourly workers into design insights. Collaboration and influence: strong communication to align cross-functional partners and drive clarity in complex problems. Nice to Have

Experience designing complex systems or compliance-heavy workflows in SaaS, HR, or productivity tools. Familiarity with AI-driven experiences (AI agents, conversational UI, LLM-powered workflows).
