Role Summary:
Flowserve Chesapeake (Pump Division) is seeking a dynamic Quality Manager to lead its Quality Group. The successful candidate should excel in driving quality and continuous improvement initiatives, encompassing Quality KPIs, QMS enhancements, supplier quality management, and internal audits. A robust background in quality management, coupled with proven leadership in large-scale industrial manufacturing organizations, is essential. The role requires effective collaboration with associates at all organizational levels, especially those on the factory shop and office floors. The Quality Assurance Manager will develop, implement, and manage the QMS to guarantee product and process compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory standards. They will lead the Quality team, facilitate cross-functional problem-solving, and spearhead continuous improvement efforts to reduce the cost of poor quality (COPQ).
Responsibilities:
Lead Site Quality Program and Cost of Quality.
Report KPIs, Global Corrective Actions and support with corporate data requests.
Maintain all Quality certifications for the business (ISO 9001:2015, site specific: NSF, UL, and CSA)
Maintain compliance with Flowserve Global Procedures and industry regulations & requirements.
Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and control plans.
Manage internal and external audits.
Responsible for QC incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities.
Ensure calibration of measurement tools and equipment.
Lead and coach Problem Solving (RCA/CA/PA) for the facility
Implement corrective actions and verify effectiveness.
Manage and report quality KPIs (COPQ, FPY, defects, warranty claims, scrap/rework, etc.).
Provide management with data-driven insights for decision-making.
Address customer complaints and coordinate resolution.
Work with suppliers on quality standards, approvals, and corrective actions.
Build and coach the Quality team.
Promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.
Lead the correct implementation of Company Quality strategy within the expected timing and level of maturity (i.e: Quality Academy).
Expectations:
Champion quality cultural change in the facility aligned with Flowserve values & behaviors.
Ensure zero major audit findings and compliance with standards.
Reduce COPQ year-over-year through preventive measures.
Provide clear, timely communication on quality issues and risks.
Partner with operations, engineering, and supply chain to resolve systemic issues and to assure supplier quality and performance
Act as the voice of the customer internally, ensuring product conformance and reliability.
QMS Compliance: Audit results (internal, external, customer); corrective action closure rate.
Corporate Alignment: Adherence to corporate initiatives, policies, and standard work execution.
Key Performance Metrics (KPIs):
Warranty: Warranty claims $ and frequency vs. plan.
Customer: Customer complaints resolved on time and recurrence rate.
Quality: First Pass Yield (FPY) trend improvements across product families.
Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ): Scrap and rework cost as % of sales; year-over-year reduction.
Requirements:
5 years of Quality experience
Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS). Examples would be ISO 9001, ASME, and other relevant industry codes and standards.
Analytical and Reporting Skills: The ability to report KPIs, global corrective actions, and respond to corporate data requests. is crucial.
Experience in Leading and coaching Problem Solving (RCA/CA/PA), implementing corrective actions, and addressing customer complaints.
Experience with Supplier Management Skills
Based on business or customer needs, you may experience up to 15% travel, which could include international travel
Preferred Experience / Skills/ Needs:
Experience in quality leadership with demonstrated experience managing / supervising a quality team
BS or BA Degree in relevant field
Lean Six Sigma, OPEX, certified.
Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
Other Quality tools: A3, 8D, PFMEA.
