Principal Cloud &

Development, Security, and Operations

Architect

to join the team in Seattle, WA; North Charleston, SC; Ridley Park, PA; Berkeley, MO; El Segundo, CA; Plano, TX or Mesa, AZ.

This individual will join our Cloud and Development Platform team and lead the future of Boeing's enterprise cloud platforms and developer toolchain strategy. In this critical role, you will define and drive multi-cloud architecture across commercial and government sectors, including sovereign landing zones and enterprise Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps) pipelines.

You will provide enterprise-wide architectural leadership, champion the best practices, break down cross-organizational barriers, and collaborate closely with Enterprise Security, Enterprise Architecture, Product Management, Development, and Operations Teams. Your mission: to deliver secure, complaint, and cost-effective cloud solutions on a scale, making our enterprise platforms the preferred choice for development teams to build and deploy software.

The ideal candidate is both a visionary strategist and hands-on technologist with a proven history of architecting large-scale, regulated cloud platforms. Position Responsibilities:

Define and own enterprise cloud platform and landing zone architecture (e.g., multi-cloud, hybrid, Government, sovereign)

Architect and standardize Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), infrastructure-as-code (IaC), artifact/secrets management, and security/compliance automation across the enterprise toolchain

Create and publish platform roadmaps, reference architectures, guardrails, and migration/consolidation plans

Partner with Enterprise Security, Enterprise Architecture, product management, development, and operations to resolve enterprise-level issues

Drive unification of internal/external landing zone processes, subscription/account models, and core platform services

Enable granular access/delegation patterns that complement role-based access control (RBAC) for secure, auditable operations

Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, and mentorship to senior engineers and platform teams

Quantify cost, risk, and business impact of architectural decisions and present to executive stakeholders

Ensure high-quality, secure, and compliant delivery patterns, observability, and operational readiness

Represent Boeing's cloud and DevSecOps strategy across enterprise forums and external engagements

Lead enterprise architecture governance forums; act as final technical authority for deviations from standards

Drive risk and resilience architecture, including compliance (e.g., Internal Organization for Standardization (ISO), National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP)/Internal Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), continuity, and disaster recovery strategies

Conduct technology radar and horizon scanning to identify emerging cloud/DevSecOps technologies for adoption

Influence industry direction by engaging in external standards bodies, Cloud Service Provider (CSP) advisory boards, and thought leadership forums

Mentor senior engineers and develop the next generation of technical leaders within the organization

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Bachelor's degree or higher

10+ years of experience leading DevSecOps teams to deploy a cloud or on-prem DevSecOps solutions

10+ years of experience with Cloud hosted platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure

5+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and working with senior leadership

3+ years of experience with Kubernetes, Docker containers, and Ansible

Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD environments

Experience with best practices for implementing cloud security and product security

Experience in software, application solutions, development and architecture in highly regulated industries

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Certifications: Amazon Web Service (AWS) Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent

Experience leading enterprise-scale platform consolidation or cloud transformation programs

Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)/Agile at scale and ability to translate roadmaps into EPICs/features

Recognized industry thought leader - published work, standards contributions, or speaking engagements

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $165,750 - $240,350
