We are adding to our Auto Claims Leadership Team!! The Auto Property Damage Director is responsible for oversight of the overall productivity and personnel of an Auto Property Damage Unit. Scope of the position includes ensuring compliance with State mandated claims handling guidelines, understanding of policy language and coverages, as well as assuring proper investigation and conclusions of claims. Position also includes monitoring production, staff development and the quality of files assigned to the Unit.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead, motivate, and provide direction to the unit auto adjusters Conduct file and diary reviews for the purpose of monitoring adjuster's work and to assure appropriate documentation is available, fair claim settlement practices are followed, and company quality standards are maintained Place appropriate authority level on claim files based upon determination of coverage, investigation of facts and approve settlement checks within authority Review reports and support the implementation of procedures which improve overall claim settlement process, customer service levels, and ensure that desired quality and quantity levels are maintained Oversee the implementation and monitoring of procedures to assure effectiveness and compliance Determine training needs of the department / unit, establish and participate in programs to ensure training needs of personnel and processes Identify Systems issues / concerns and make suggestions for enhancements Manage the administrative functions of the unit which include: Review / provide direction on new losses Setting performance objectives and monitoring performance results Conduct performance appraisals Daily review of files for payment approvals over adjuster authority and the transfer of files to appropriate areas (SIU, Litigation, Total Loss, Subrogation, etc.) Conduct one on one and unit meetings Review and direct claim activity Department of Insurance inquiries Review and direct claim activity on customer inquiries Assure all compliance and customer service regulations / initiatives are met
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 5+ years auto liability property damage claims experience 3+ years of
Supervising/Managing
Auto Claims Adjusters Strong technical and administrative background in auto claims handling Ability to work independently on technical and administrative matters in accordance with company policy and procedures Background in personnel selection, goal setting, monitoring and communicating performance Good leadership, training and development skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to pass written examinations where required by state statutes to become a licensed claim adjuster / supervisor Non-Standard experience a plus but not required Fluent in Spanish is a plus but not required First Chicago Insurance Company provides a competitive benefits package to all full- time employees.
