Supervisor, Accounting

Some telecommuting flexibility with ability to work from home 1 day per week but requires to physically be in Indianapolis, IN office.

Responsible for developing, maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate/ timely financial statements in accordance w/ international accounting rules for subsidiaries in Latin America. Work with global accounting support positions to ensure work properly allocated & completed timely. This position addresses tight deadlines & multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end review preparation and support of budget & forecast activities. Contact with senior-level Management and company’s Owners and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), which requires communication skills both written and verbal. Supervision of 3 accountants and 2 billing and posting clerks.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Obtain and maintain thorough understanding of the financial reporting & general ledger structure;
  2. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close;
  3. Ensure timely reporting of all monthly financial information;
  4. Assist CFO in the banking requirements;
  5. Support budget & forecasting activities;
  6. Collaborate with other department Supervisors to support overall department goals & objectives;
  7. Monitor/analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures & resource use while maintaining high level of accuracy;
  8. Advise staff regarding handling of non-routine reporting transactions;
  9. Respond to inquiries from CEO, CFO, and other company wide Managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests;
  10. Work with CFO to ensure clean and timely year-end review;
  11. Supervise international accounting staff to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met;
  12. Assist in development/implementation of new procedures and features to enhance workflow of department;
  13. Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

Requires: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Accounting, or related field and 3 years of experience in Accounting, auditing or related experience.


Position also requires:


  • Experience with large ERP systems, implementing best practices and refining accounting processes.
  • Microsoft Excel, and Word
  • 3 years of experience with financial reporting/general ledger
  • 3 years of experience with ledger account reconciliations
  • Application of Latin American tax requirements including retention taxes and VAT
  • Auditing experience of financial statements and year end account audits
