Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for achieving site goals including employee safety, product quality and cost, schedule adherence and on-time delivery to customer demand. This is a hands-on position that focuses on maximizing daily throughput and driving efficiency to improve profitability. This role supports factory operations, particularly custom engineered solution projects, and is responsible for developing and maintaining a motivated staff while achieving budgetary and production targets. The Production Manager must ensure all Engineered Solutions Group Focus Factory team members adhere to AMETEK policies and procedures including ISO 9001, Environmental/Health/Safety, and Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the assigned production process and influence engineering, supply chain, planning, manufacturing, and quality to meet customer fulfillment expectations.
- Achieve KPIs related to revenue, on-time delivery, first pass yield, and overtime. Implement corrective actions when targets are not met.
- Lead daily management practices with tiered escalation to gather inputs from team members and escalate issues to cross-functional leadership for rapid response.
- Implement continuous improvement activities through Lean Manufacturing principles, including 6S, Gemba Walks, leader standard work, visual controls, and root cause problem solving.
- Analyze variances between direct labor standards and actuals, supporting continuous improvements to reduce variances.
- Provide tactical and strategic direction, and support employee/career development to Assemblers and Technicians. Maintain headcount plans for current and future needs.
- Maintain cross-training to mitigate risks of single points of failure and tribal knowledge.
- Support the creation, review, and approval of engineering deviations and change orders.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Test Engineering to review, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures for all production operations.
- Maintain robust inventory handling/management to ensure accuracy within the Focus Factory.
- Maintain equipment calibration and preventive maintenance programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Operations Management, Electronics, Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of production experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. and authorization to access export-controlled information and source code.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in production management for electro-mechanical assembly and final electrical/functional testing in an ERP environment.
- Experience managing highly engineered, rack-mounted power electronics systems.
- Experience with electronic test equipment (power analyzers, waveform generators, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
- Experience with Lean manufacturing and ISO quality systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
- Budget and schedule management with cost control activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage with employees, other departments, and senior management.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems; scheduling software (MS Project or equivalent) and data visualization software (Power BI or equivalent) is a plus.
- Data-driven decision-making and results-oriented approach.
