Sourcing and Recruiting Specialist
Primary Role:
As a member of the Human Resources team, this position leads sourcing and recruitment efforts for Comfort Windows & Doors, with a primary focus on identifying, attracting, and hiring skilled carpenters, installers, and construction professionals across all New York State locations. This role also handles recruitment of office and management positions as needed. The specialist develops, refines, and executes creative sourcing strategies, strengthens talent pipelines, and proactively stays ahead of staffing needs. Success in this position ensures the company consistently hires top talent that meets our high standards of craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Sourcing & Pipeline Development

Utilize Indeed as the primary tool for sourcing, resume searching, and candidate outreach, supported by LinkedIn Recruiter, social media platforms, trade-specific boards, and networking events.

Develop and maintain pipelines of active and passive candidates, with a core focus on carpenters, installers, and construction professionals, while also supporting office and management roles as needed.

Proactively identify, approach, and recruit personnel from competitor organizations as a key sourcing strategy.

Continuously refine sourcing strategies using innovative and non-traditional approaches, including trade schools, alumni networks, local community partnerships, and industry events.

Recruitment Execution

Screen resumes and applications to assess construction and trade-specific qualifications, certifications, and relevant experience.

Deliver prepared candidate profiles to hiring managers with a clear rationale for fit.

Coordinate and schedule interviews by aligning candidate availability with hiring managers’ schedules, ensuring efficiency and minimal disruption to managers’ workflows.

Maintain organized records of sourcing activity and candidate progress in the ATS and internal tracking tools.

Manager Communication & Needs Alignment

Maintain constant communication with hiring managers to stay ahead of staffing needs and role requirements.

Proactively anticipate future openings for carpenters, installers, construction, office, and management roles and begin building pipelines in advance.

Provide regular updates to managers on sourcing activity, candidate pipelines, and labor market trends.

Market & Talent Intelligence

Research and analyze competitor organizations to identify potential recruiting opportunities and hiring trends.

Target competitor talent pools to engage experienced professionals in construction and skilled trades.

Monitor labor market shifts, talent availability, and emerging sourcing tools to remain competitive.

Provide actionable insights and recommendations to managers and HR leadership on sourcing challenges and opportunities.

Employer Branding & Candidate Experience

Act as a brand ambassador for Comfort Windows & Doors, promoting company culture and career opportunities to skilled trades candidates.

Ensure a professional and positive candidate experience from initial contact through offer acceptance.

Collaborate with HR teammates to align job postings and outreach messaging with the company’s brand and values.

Collaboration & Process Alignment

Work as an integral part of the HR team to maintain consistent, compliant recruiting practices across all locations.

Collaborate with managers and other departments to ensure sourcing strategies align with business priorities.

Share sourcing strategies, insights, and success stories with HR teammates to strengthen overall recruiting effectiveness.

Support for Other HR Activities

Participate in other HR initiatives and projects as requested by the HR Director.

Provide support on special projects, employee engagement activities, or process improvements as needed.

Serve as a flexible HR resource while maintaining primary focus on recruitment and sourcing activities.
Requirements:

Experience: 3–5 years of proven success in talent sourcing and recruiting, ideally within skilled trades, construction, or home improvement industries.

Indeed Expertise: Strong proficiency with Indeed Resume Search, job postings, and candidate outreach as a primary sourcing tool.

Other Tools: Experience with LinkedIn Recruiter, social media recruiting, Boolean search methods, and other creative sourcing approaches.

Competitor Targeting: Demonstrated ability to identify, approach, and recruit skilled trades personnel from competitor organizations.

Resume Evaluation: Ability to assess technical qualifications, trade skills, and industry certifications for carpenters, installers, and construction professionals.

Manager Partnership: Strong communication skills to proactively engage with managers, anticipate staffing needs, and provide actionable updates.

Market Knowledge: Awareness of local labor markets, trade talent availability, and competitor activity to inform sourcing strategies.

Organization: Ability to manage multiple requisitions and candidate pipelines simultaneously with accuracy.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to represent the company professionally to candidates, managers, and HR teammates.

Preferred: Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS/ATS systems.
