Job Description:The temporary Zack Box Coordinator will provide oversight and support to events taking place in the Zack Box Theater, located at 8 Fenway. The Zack Box is a multi-use space that serves as both a classroom and performance space, which hosts events and productions for the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. This includes theater performances, workshops, staged readings, capstone performances, and other events.As part of the Performance Services department, the ZB Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Production, and collaborates with the Production and Concert Services team, as well as the Theater, Dance, and Music Division, Concert Operations, and other departments. The ZB Coordinator hires, trains, and supervises the overhire workforce and student workers necessary to ensure successful productions, and maintains the production schedule. This is a temporary, part-time position that is anticipated to work through the end of the Spring 2026 semester (early May) with possibility to extend.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide oversight and support for all events and productions occurring within the Zack Box Theater. Maintain a schedule of events and work calls, prioritizing class needs in collaboration with Academic Operations. Review event requests for the venue and determine feasibility. Provide technical and production support for curricular events, including: Ensemble Performance Laboratory, Capstone Festival, and Senior Directing projects. This may include support for scenic, lighting, and/or audio elements, depending on the specific needs of each production. Supervise, hire, and train Zack Box Student Assistants and Student Stage Managers to support productions and events, ensuring appropriate coverage for load-in, technical rehearsals, and compliance with student employment regulations. Maintain and coordinate for the safety, accessibility, and functionality of department facilities and equipment Coordinate with Box Office and Front of House teams for public performances, including staffing, capacity, specific show details such as length and audience advisories, to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all audience members. Serve as Manager on Duty for events in the Zack Box and other venues as needed.MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Theater or similar field, or equivalent work experience 3 or more years experience in a theatrical production role. Experience in Technical Direction, Lighting, Sound, Stage Management, Venue Management, and/or Event Management will be an asset Experience working with college students in an advisory, supervisory, and/or educational capacity preferredKNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Strong ability to work independently Familiarity with applicable OSHA and EPA standards Experience with QLab for video and Keynote preferredSKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Strong leadership and collaborative skills Excellent communication and time management skills requiredSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises Production Technicians, and student workersWORK ENVIRONMENT: Indoor environments, some with low light: stages, backstage areas, dressing rooms, costume shop, storage spaces, prop and scenery storage, office spaces, workshop, control booth, off-campus performance spaces Seated and standing positions Stairs and laddersSPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, ETC: Nights and weekends required On call during production cycles when not onsite Must be able to lift objects of up to 50 pounds Must be able to climb ladders up to 24 feetThis document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an "at will" employment relationship.
