Character Performer (Pond Patrol)
Role Summary
Are you ready to step into the spotlight and bring smiles to thousands? Join our team as a Costumed Character Performer and be a key part of the excitement at Walleye games, as well as other thrilling Toledo events! In this lively role, you'll work across promotions, game presentation, and operations to embody Catrick and Spike, dance, and entertain fans with your playful antics. With a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays, you'll have the chance to create unforgettable moments and spread joy throughout the greater Northwest Ohio community. Essential Responsibilities Perform at all home games for the Toledo Walleye, as well as community and team appearances scheduled by the supervisor. This includes but is not limited to sponsors, charities, media and private functions. Responsible for managing and maintaining all mascot equipment including props and costumes. Read social cues to understand the level of engagement each fan may want. Preserve the identity of the mascot and follow an established character playbook including mannerisms, body language, attitude, fan interaction and team representation at all times. Qualifications & Skills
Previous mascot experience and skating experience preferred but not required. Must be friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic. Ability to execute a number of tasks at the same time and working well under pressure. Ability to carry out detained written/oral/diagram form instructions. Strong communication skills and ability to present self in a professional manner to interact with fans of all ages, sponsors, guests, players. Energetic and outgoing personality. Approaches and engages the community in a professional and friendly manner. Working Environment
Occasionally lifting promotional items and props needed, weighing up to 20 pounds. Constantly carrying the weight of the uniform, either wearing the costume or carrying the costume to events, up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, etc. for the duration of the shift. Constantly performing in restrictive outfits with impaired vision. Game days will be inside for hockey games, however some outside appearances may consist of outdoor weather conditions.
