$33.090 - $42.700 - $52.310 This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. As part of the terms of employment, employees in this role are required to join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the collective bargaining agreement. In alignment with the SEIU CBA, this position will be posted for 7 days internally from 09/22/25 to 09/29/25 and available only to existing members of the ratified SEIU Bargaining Unit with a contract expiration date of 9/30/2027. Facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring the operating room environment is safe, that equipment is functioning properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. A surgical technologist that applies clinical expertise in the role of scrub surgical technologist. Required Qualifications
3 Years Experience as a surgical technologist in a hospital setting. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR NBSTSA Certified Surgical First Assistants (CSFA) - NBSTSA OR Tech in Surgery - Certified (NCCT), TS-C (NCCT) - National Center for Competency Testing - REQUIRED Other Qualification Requirements
Surgical Technologist Certification from an accredited program is required (e.g. CST, CSFA, or Tech in Surgery-Certified (NCCT)). Essential Functions
Clinical practice: Accountable for instrument trays to match the instrument list provided in the tray. Needs to escalate when incomplete. Update surgeon's preference card per entity specific process. Checks supplies and equipment needed for the surgical procedure. Scrubs, gowns and gloves. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medication/solutions needed for the procedure. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to operation and before incision is closed. Complies with all count policies and procedures. Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants. Helps in draping sterile field. Passes instruments to surgeon during the procedure. Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure. Cleans and prepares instruments for decontamination when needed. Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room. Assists in prepping the room for the next patient as needed. Problem resolution: Identifies any deviation from expected procedure/policy. Reports any patient safety issues. Identifies problems and takes appropriate action, without prompting, to accomplish department objectives and improved quality of care. Participates in teaching. Role models the Sharp Experience. An active team member (works additional shifts or different shifts as appropriate). Professional development: Is an expert in sterile technique and mentors in at least 2 specialties and/or mentors and performs in at least 1 specialty. Builds relationships with clinical staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members to facilitate patient and organizational outcomes. Participates in professional organizations. Develops professional growth through self-evaluation and goal setting. Serves as a preceptor for new surgical technologists and/or student surgical technologists. Demonstrates moral integrity, honesty, surgical conscience, and a commitment to patient safety in the operating room. Helps promote quality care for the surgical patient. Quality care: Demonstrates knowledge of procedure by anticipating needs prior to and during each case (e.g., assisting with dressing and/or cast application at the end of the procedure). Selects cases using the physician’s preference card. Fulfills additional responsibilities and performs without requiring direction. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A clinical expert in sterile and aseptic technique. An expert in performance and mentorship in at least 2 specialties and/or mentors and performs in at least 1 specialty. New Hire Bonus Eligibility Requirements
