About the Role We are looking to add a Solution Architect to our American Customer Acquisition and Delivery team. The Solution Architect is a strategic technical advisor who works closely with customers in data center cooling, building energy and HVAC industries to understand their needs and design differentiated solutions using Modelon Impact and related services. This customer-facing role supports outreach and pre- and post-sales activities, ensuring proposed solutions are aligned with customer requirements and positioned for long-term adoption. The Solution Architect collaborates cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Customer Delivery, and Product Management, and plays a key role in representing the customers’ voice to achieve product-market fit and rapid growth of Modelon Impact. The Solution Architect will be based in Modelon’s Ann Arbor, Michigan office and reports to the Director of Customer Acquisition and Delivery.
Your Responsibilities
Trust Building: Work closely with customers and prospects, in collaboration with Sales, to understand customer needs, design tailored solutions, and deliver compelling technical demonstrations of Modelon Impact and related services.
Client Roadmaps: Own selected strategic client roadmaps, providing insights that align with long-term goals and support sustained use of Modelon Impact.
Project Scoping: Advise Customer Delivery during the scoping and proposal phases to ensure Modelon’s offer aligns with customer expectations, technical requirements, and available competencies. Assess technical risks as part of Modelon’s project decision process.
Technical Leadership: Provide expert support to Solution Engineers and customers during onboarding and project execution. Contribute to Modelon’s knowledge base through documentation and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Internal Collaboration: Collaborate across functions to ensure consistency in messaging, technical proposals, and service delivery. Work closely with Product Management and Product Development to refine the product-market fit of Modelon’s solutions.
Your Qualifications
Master's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related technical field.
3-5 years of industry or applied research experience in modeling thermofluid systems. Familiarity with controls and optimization is a plus.
Minimum of 2 years in a customer-facing technical role, with a proven ability to translate technical requirements into actionable solutions.
Expertise in system simulation software (e.g. Modelica, Modelon Impact, Dymola, EnergyPlus, TRNSYS, gProm, Aemsim, or GT Suite). Experience with Modelica Buildings Library or other HVAC-focused libraries is preferred.
Experience in data center cooling systems and related emerging technologies in the field is highly valued.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to win and maintain trust with customers.
Comfortable with a team-driven, matrixed organization.
Highly organized and capable of handling multiple priorities effectively.
Self-motivated and proactive in problem-solving.
Curious and eager to learn across domains; bold in exploring new technologies.
