Senior Data Engineer
Disney Entertainment and ESPN Product & Technology (DEEP&T) is seeking a Senior Data Engineer focused on privacy solutions and data subject rights automation. You will work cross-functionally with analytics, data architecture, legal and security teams to build scalable solutions for privacy-related challenges. Responsibilities
Be a key player in a cross-functional team of engineers who build software for a large-scale data processing ecosystem, supporting real-time and batch data pipelines for analytics, data science, and operations.
Maintain data engineering and architecture best practices and standards within the team and wider organization, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and experimentation.
Evangelize and evolve the platform, best practices, and data-driven decisions; identify new use cases and features and drive adoption.
Build out robust observability, alerting, logging, and a system control plane for easy diagnosis across all data pipelines.
Contribute to maintaining, updating, and expanding existing software deployments while upholding strict uptime SLAs.
Maintain detailed documentation to support data quality and data governance requirements.
Participate in agile/scrum ceremonies to collaborate and improve processes.
Collaboration:
Work with product managers, architects, and other engineers to drive the success of the Foundational Platform.
Qualifications
5+ years of data engineering experience in software engineering in the data space.
Strong algorithmic problem-solving expertise; solid fundamental Scala and Python programming skills.
Good understanding of AWS or other cloud resources (S3).
Strong SQL skills with the ability to explore and analyze data deeply.
Hands-on experience with distributed processing systems such as Apache Spark.
Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration systems such as Airflow for data pipelines.
Scripting language experience (Bash, PowerShell).
Technologies such as OneTrust, Databricks, Jupyter, Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow, DynamoDB, Redis, Kubernetes, Kinesis, REST APIs, Terraform, Go.
SQL, Python, Scala, and other programming languages.
Willingness to learn new skillsets; self-starting with strong analytical and communication skills.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field of study, or equivalent work experience.
Master’s Degree in Computer Science (preferred).
Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
Experience developing APIs with GraphQL and familiarity with data modeling techniques and data warehousing practices.
Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies; knowledge of privacy regulations and data subject rights.
#DISNEYTECH #CDI The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is $138,900 - $186,200 per year and in New York, NY is $145,400 - $195,000 per year. The base pay offered will consider internal equity and location, plus potential bonus and long-term incentive units, benefits, and other compensation dependent on level and experience.
