Pioneer School District serves approximately 750 P-8 students and encompasses a rural area east of Shelton in the South Puget Sound region. The district is mainly forested, accented by lakes and waterways with multiple recreational opportunities. The district\'s newer schools (remodeled and rebuilt in 2017) and its quality education coupled with its beautiful setting is attracting young families to the area. Pioneer School District is in a beautiful, rural community in the South Puget Sound region of Washington state. It offers a balanced lifestyle in a family-oriented rural community with easy access to urban areas of the South Puget Sound area and the amenities of the West Coast. Job Description: A facility/maintenance director is responsible for managing maintenance staff, creating schedules, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance. They ensure that the staff are well-trained and efficient, and they oversee the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment. The Director of Facility & Maintenance is responsible for all aspects of maintaining school facilities, land, and grounds. They also coordinate and manage preventive and reactive maintenance, as well as liaison with local law enforcement for safety plans. Performance Responsibilities: Lead, supervise, and evaluate the performance of the facilities, maintenance staff, and custodial procedures. Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, and work standards. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the facilities department Oversee routine and preventive maintenance programs for all district buildings and grounds. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding building safety, health, and environmental standards. Coordinate and manage all maintenance and repair work, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and structural repairs. Develop and manage the facilities and maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Monitor expenditures and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints. Identify and apply for grants and other funding opportunities to support facilities projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards. Develop and implement safety protocols and emergency response plans for facilities and maintenance operations. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential hazards. Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards. Develop and implement energy conservation and sustainability initiatives. Monitor and manage the district\'s energy consumption and utility costs. Promote environmentally responsible practices throughout the district. Communicate effectively with district administration, staff, parents, and community members regarding facilities matters. Provide regular updates to the superintendent and school board on facilities and maintenance activities. Coordinate and manage response to facilities-related emergencies, including natural disasters, system failures, and other critical incidents. Develop and maintain emergency preparedness plans for all district facilities. Oversee and manage the district’s Fire System, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and coordination with local authorities. Required Qualifications: Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in construction, facilities management, or related fields. Knowledge of capital budgeting, contract practices, procurement, and construction regulations. Experience in an educational setting preferred, including administrative, construction, or maintenance duties. Understanding of public works contracts (federal, state, local) and appropriate compliance codes (UBC mechanical, electrical, APWA, health, OSHA, WISHA, etc.) preferred. Experience and knowledge of school construction processes including design, bidding, permitting and construction contract administration. Effective leadership, management, and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Represent the district in a professional and businesslike manner with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with consultants, contractors, and school staff. Responding to stressful situations appropriately. Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position. All positions are on site and in person only. Salary schedule

is a starting rate $100,000-$107,689 for 260 days. Please note, this contract will be prorated for the 2026 school year. Insurance Benefits
