The Multimedia Content & Communications Strategist, Senior Manager (MCCSSM), reports to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications. This role brings United Way NCA’s work to life through dynamic stories and strong copywriting that engage donors, volunteers, community partners, and the wider community. The MCCSSM uses storytelling science and a data-driven approach to produce content across channels (audio, visual, and written) with familiarity in traditional and digital media best practices. The MCCSSM is a strategic and creative writer who can deliver emotionally engaging content for varied audiences and organizational goals. This leader is an agile writer capable of long and short form pieces, an experienced interviewer, researcher, editor, and collaborator who translates content into polished stories supporting fundraising, volunteerism, marketing, and communications. The role involves collaboration with internal teams, donors, community partners, and media to drive campaign success and regional goals. Duties and Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Development Develop and implement narrative strategies by crafting compelling stories that engage audiences, reinforce organizational values, and guide strategic direction. Lead the development and management of a cross-functional editorial calendar to ensure alignment and narrative consistency, elevating United Way NCA’s brand storytelling. Provide vision and expertise in multimedia storytelling to develop assets, including podcasts, newsletters, videos, and photography. Field-produce and direct interviews, documentaries, and other multimedia content from concept through execution. Capture high-quality photos and video using DSLR or mirrorless cameras; document events, interviews, or site visits. Video editing experience using Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Premiere Pro). Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that strengthens visibility and brand storytelling. Shape and integrate content initiatives into the overall communications strategy. Storytelling & Content Creation Write, edit, and curate high-impact content—including donor stories, web articles, newsletters, annual reports, social media content, grant submissions, and marketing materials. Develop and implement communication strategies using storytelling techniques to achieve organizational goals. Support partnerships or proposals related to mission-driven multimedia content. Identify and develop compelling stories about Community Impact programs, staff, and issues related to our work. Identify opportunities to gather content from the field for editorial content. Deliver packaged content for pre-determined marketing & communications tactics. Digital Storytelling & Engagement Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Manager to optimize and produce stories for the website to boost online engagement and recruitment of donors and volunteers. Develop content strategies that maximize audience reach and engagement across platforms. Monitor emerging trends to enhance digital content performance. Spend a minimum of two (2) days per week across the footprint collecting stories and content. Data-Driven Insights & Content Performance Utilize analytics tools to track content engagement and effectiveness. Report on content performance with data-driven recommendations to refine strategy. Take a data-driven approach to align content with organizational goals and audience motivation. Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment Leverage donor and stakeholder insights to personalize content resonance. Work cross-functionally with PR, media, and communications teams to ensure a cohesive strategy. Engage internal and external stakeholders to align content with priorities and campaigns. Complies with standard operating policies and procedures. Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the job classification. Education, Background and Experience Bachelor’s degree preferred in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or related field. High School Diploma or GED with related multimedia/communications experience required. Minimum five (5) years of professional video and editorial experience. Minimum five (5) years in content strategy, writing, or editorial development, preferably in nonprofit or related fields. Minimum five (5) years of experience in multi-channel content strategies that drive engagement. Three (3) years of strong background in storytelling, content marketing, and brand messaging with emphasis on digital platforms. Strong writing skills and ability to craft compelling narratives across formats. Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to identify opportunities and develop strategies. Diversified portfolio of video and writing samples. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro) for editing. Superior written and visual communication skills. Ability to translate technical material into accessible human stories for a general audience. Understanding storytelling and marketing copywriting trends across media types.
