About the Role The Knowledge Management (KM) Lawyer will be responsible for managing the creation, organization, and delivery of knowledge assets for the US Company M&A practice (the “Practice”), helping attorneys to work at the highest level. The KM Lawyer will support the delivery of a broad portfolio of knowledge services for the Practice, including the monitoring of legal, market, and regulatory developments, the preparation of tailored thought leadership pieces for clients, the creation of standard forms, guidance notes and training materials, and the collation and organization of precedent.

This role will, ideally, be located in our New York, Chicago, or Washington, D.C. offices. However, we are also open to considering all US office locations. The role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Latham & Watkins has a well-established Knowledge Management team with defined career progression routes which recognize the experience our colleagues bring to their role. Candidates will typically have five years or more practicing experience, but we are open to candidates at all levels, including those with very significant experience in this field.

Responsibilities

Drafting and maintaining standard forms and templates and other knowledge resources

Identifying, collecting, and organizing precedent and other work product for the Practice in the relevant knowledge management databases

Monitoring current legal, regulatory, and market developments for the Practice, and informing attorneys and clients of these through emails, bulletins, training, or other appropriate means

Supporting the team’s training program and providing substantive training to the team’s associates, as well as more general training on the knowledge management databases, and KM resources generally

Coordinating and monitoring projects under the firm’s KM Initiative, working with the attorneys to bring these to fruition, and ensuring they meet the Practice’s strategic objectives

Participating in external forums with members of the wider KM community and external service providers in order to keep abreast of industry developments

Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

Qualifications

Possess extensive knowledge of legal documents in M&A

Exhibit outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal

Display meticulous attention to detail

A J.D. or equivalent

A minimum of five (5) years of relevant post-qualification experience as a practicing lawyer in a leading law firm, focused on M&A

Pay Range: USD $250,000.00 - USD $280,000.00 /Yr.
