Dartmouth Health’s Department of Radiology is seeking a Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging to join our dynamic Department in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, the system’s central clinical hub and Academic Medical Center, is located adjacent to the college town of Hanover, NH. Hanover is home to Dartmouth College and Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. We are seeking a skilled, visionary, and impactful radiologist leader to define and execute a vision for a world-class cardiothoracic imaging section. Responsibilities include growing an efficient, productive, cutting-edge clinical service; nurturing a robust educational program for students, residents, and fellows; and spearheading a scholarly portfolio for the section including clinical, health care delivery, and/or basic science research. The Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging will have broad impact with leadership responsibilities across Dartmouth Health and at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Faculty have access to the full academic and cultural resources of the health system, the College, and the School. Position Summary The Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging will be a nationally known leader in the field of cardiothoracic imaging, capable of setting a vision and executing it. The candidate should have a personal reputation for excellence in clinical care, teaching, mentoring, and scholarship. The Chief will execute on the three essential missions of this academic, mission-driven department: Clinical Excellence: Clinically, the Chief will ensure the Cardiothoracic Imaging Service Line is productive, cutting-edge, and collaborative. With growth across Dartmouth Health, there will be net expansion of services and imaging volumes, allowing the Chief to mold the service line to be a national leader. The Cardiothoracic Imaging section provides the full gamut of cardiothoracic imaging techniques. The Chief will help develop new services and refine existing ones, with an eye toward continuous improvement and patient satisfaction. The Chief will collaborate with executive leadership, department chairs, and division leads to develop new services, innovate, and collaborate. A superb working relationship with pulmonology, cardiology, thoracic surgery, pathology, primary care, and other services is expected. Educational Excellence In education, the Chief will define goals for developing a world-class educational environment. The department aims to have robust programs for Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth students, including shadowing programs and junior and senior student rotations. Dartmouth Radiology is a national leader in teaching radiology to medical students, with nationally and internationally recognized educators and extensive dissemination of scholarly work pertaining to educational techniques and novel programs. Dartmouth Radiology hosts multiple outstanding residencies, including Diagnostic Radiology and an integrated DR/IR program, and multiple fellowships. Supporting Scholarship Opportunities for cardiothoracic imaging scholarship are abundant. As a national leader serving populations across a wide geographic area, there are ample opportunities to publish and present on innovative programs and imaging. The Chief is expected to participate in the section’s scholarly efforts while developing and mentoring the team in scholarly endeavors. Enlisting students, residents, and fellows in academic endeavors is highly encouraged. All faculty are encouraged to participate in national societies and organizations, with an eye toward developing a regional and/or national reputation of clinical excellence. Reporting Structure The Chief will report directly to the Chair of Radiology (who also serves as Vice President of the Radiology Service Line for Dartmouth Health). Cardiothoracic imagers will report to the chief. Overall, the Chief should engage and inspire others, including physician colleagues, department staff, and others throughout the institution. The Department values patient-centered care and a collaborative, respectful, caring, and engaging work environment. There is a strong working relationship with other Departments and the section participates in multidisciplinary meetings. The Department and Dartmouth Health The selected candidate will join Dartmouth Health’s 60 radiologists. We are an internationally known Department with a deep history in the field, beginning with acquiring the first clinically used x-ray in the United States in 1896. Since then, we have continued an upward trajectory growing in breadth and depth and expanding our services across New England. While Dartmouth Health includes many hospitals and clinic sites, this position is based at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, our tertiary care central hub and Academic Medical Center. DHMC is the state’s only Level 1 trauma center and a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, with helicopter and ground-based medical transport services. Dartmouth Health maintains a total of 802 beds, with 458 at DHMC. The network handles over 3 million outpatient visits annually, supported by a dedicated team of 15,000 employees and more than 2,300 providers. Benefits For a 1.0 FTE position, the annual salary range is $578,000 to $606,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may be available for leadership responsibilities. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, retirement, time off, and CME support). A sign-on bonus and relocation stipend may be available, subject to eligibility. Generous retirement programs with institutional contributions and a matching program. Diagnostic Radiology Board Certified Fellowship training and/or extensive experience in Cardiothoracic imaging Must obtain and maintain a medical license in both New Hampshire and Vermont The ability to be appointed at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor rank, depending on experience, with a preference for candidates at the Associate or Full Professor rank This is a 1.0 FTE position Experience
