Overview
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science at UC San Diego invites applications for Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor positions in Health Services Research, Health Policy, and Implementation Science. These positions will include teaching in the School's degree programs. The School collaborates extensively across UC San Diego and with community health partners, offering multiple degree programs and cultivating partnerships with the School of Medicine, Moores Cancer Center, Rady School of Management, Jacobs School of Engineering, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, and other UC San Diego entities.
Position Duties The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching and conducting research in Health Services Research, Health Policy, or Implementation Science, and for mentoring public health undergraduate or graduate students.
Rank and Qualifications Assistant Professor (Tenure-track)
Candidates must have a PhD, DrPH, or related doctoral degree by the start of the appointment. A minimum of two strong publications appropriate for the Assistant rank is required. Candidates must have demonstrated experience teaching at least one Public Health topic; teaching as a Teaching Assistant qualifies. Candidates must have current extramural funding and/or a detailed extramural funding plan.
Preferred Qualifications (Assistant Professor)
Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students in public health. Experience teaching Health Services Research, Health Policy, or Implementation Science. Experience mentoring students in those areas.
Associate or Full Professor (Tenured)
Candidates must have a PhD, DrPH, or related doctoral degree. Candidates must have current extramural funding (minimum one funded project) and a minimum of ten strong publications appropriate for the rank. Demonstrated teaching experience across at least three Public Health topics; Teaching Assistant experience qualifies.
Preferred Qualifications (Associate/Full Professor)
Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students in public health. Teaching in Health Services Research, Health Policy, or Implementation Science. Experience in leadership.

Appointment Details The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank based on background and experience. The series will include 50% Ladder Rank (Tenure-Track) and 50% In-Residence. The appointment requires candidates to be partially self-funded with secured extramural funding (e.g., grants).

Salary and Benefits The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and rank/step. The base pay range for this position is $93,700 – $319,800. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Salary information:
