Inova is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for our Pediatric Cardiac ICU at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. The unit serves critically ill infants, children, and adolescents who require specialized heart care and is expanding to include transplant and device management. The PCICU is staffed by skilled nurses and a multidisciplinary team of intensivists from anesthesiology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric heart surgery, neonatology, cardiac critical care, and pulmonology. paid time off, paid parental leave, flexible work schedules. Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Job Responsibilities

Identifies evidenced-based practices to incorporate into population standards of practice. Assists with the implementation of research findings into clinical practice standards. Provides leadership to ensure evidence-based practices are administered to relevant patient populations. Serves as clinical consultant and expert resource to nursing team members, leaders, and other disciplines for a specified population to ensure optimal patient outcomes, demonstrating a holistic and caring approach to patient care. Reviews and develops patient standards of practice and protocols to ensure evidence-based practice guidelines. Collaborates with nursing and other disciplines to implement clinical practice standards for the assigned patient population. The CNS ensures optimal patient outcomes from a holistic perspective, serves as a clinical expert for the designated patient population, and guides and develops standards for clinical practice in the assigned specialty area. Serves as a role model for lifelong learning and advocates for optimal patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, incorporating a multidisciplinary approach to improve outcomes for assigned populations. Hours

Full-time, Monday through Friday (regular office hours, with some flexibility as needed based on department needs). Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Master’s Degree in Advanced Clinical Nursing Practice. Experience:

3 years of clinical practice. Certifications:

BLS (AHA), and certification in a specialty nursing practice within 12 months. Licensure:

Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse and Clinical Nurse Specialist. Preferred Qualifications

Pediatric Cardiac ICU (PCICU) experience.
