Job Summary
The Dental Assistant supports the Dentist during exams, treatments, and procedures in the clinic and operating room.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Provides patient care by assisting the Dentist with chair side, radiological and dental lab procedures.
- Assembles the appropriate instruments and supplies for patient procedures as per established procedures. Assists in preparing and making prosthetic appliances, as needed.
- Communicates, prepares and reassures the patient regarding the examination and procedures.
- Observes, records and reports vital signs, condition and behavior of the patient.
- Takes, develops and mounts intraoral and extraoral radiographs, as directed.
- Facilitates patient scheduling and the management of emergency appointments.
Key Success Factors
- Must acquire the Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 30 days after hire.
- Accountable for the proper use of patient protected health information.
- Works well in a patient centered environment as an integral team player.
- Ability to adapt communication style for different audiences. Empathetic listener, sensitive, upbeat, optimistic, articulate, gracious, and tactful. Ability to calm upset patients with a composed and professional demeanor.
- Dental Assistant Certification is required.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours is necessary.
- Experience in Prosthodontics.

Qualifications
- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Dental Assistants (DENTASST) and Basic Life Support (BLS) required; BLS to be obtained if not already current or within 30 days of hire or transfer.
