Job Purpose

Working as a critical leader within a production team, support the achievement of set production targets and customer expectations by providing the appropriate level of leadership, supervision, and training/development to the people assigned within your shift and/or department, as well as the expected level of oversight to the equipment, systems, resources, and facilities under your control. Ensure those under your supervision are following standard operating procedures with continual focus to their personal safety and the safety of their co-workers, and the quality of product produced being the guiding principles of the teams’ behaviors and actions. This is an overnight, 12 hour, rotating shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide the appropriate level of leadership, supervision, and training/development to the people assigned within your shift and/or department.
  • Provide the expected level of oversight to the equipment, systems, resources, and facilities under your control.
  • Understand and effectively communicate expected department targets, including production, safety, quality, cost control and operational excellence levels (KPIs). Monitor as appropriate and provide instruction and counsel to employees when expectations are not met, and provide recognition when set expectations are exceeded.
  • Establish work schedules and manage planned and unplanned employee levels, provide hands-on coverage as needed, arrange for appropriate levels of support, supply and materials, and utilize the manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems to timely communicate production data.
  • Be an active liaison to other departments/shifts to ensure proper transfer of information to production status and other key performance areas. Establish effective relationships and channels of communication to immediate and next level production management, maintenance, supply chain management, EH&S, and HR.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environment and health processes and procedures. Include wearing required PPE, maintaining PPE, safe storage of PPE, and periodic personal testing and monitoring.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; plus 2-year technical/associate degree or certification with at least 1 year of lead, project management, or supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A bachelor’s degree in science, production management, business management, and/or engineering with relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Self-motivation, coaching ability, and the agility to maintain motivation within the team to achieve or exceed performance expectations.
  • Ability to identify cause-and-effect relationships and anticipate changes within operations, processes, systems, and personnel.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages) with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Fluent verbal and written English; strong communication skills to present situations and advocate for a position at any level of the organization.
  • Ability to read and write for understanding, interpret instructions and standard operating procedures, work with software programs (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and business-specific resource planning and reporting systems.
  • Ability to be qualified for safe and compliant use and maintenance of PPE, including fit-tested respirator, steel-toed shoes, safety eyewear, and hearing protection.
