As a Receiving Clerk at Tangent, you will be pivotal in managing the reception and verification of incoming shipments. Your role directly influences the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing teams, primarily in the plastics sector.
Role and Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Goods Verification: Receive and verify the quality and count of all items from incoming shipments, contrasting them against supplier records. Report any discrepancies immediately as per company policy. Records: Diligently maintain receiving records, updating relevant databases to assist accounting and other associated departments. Discrepancy Reporting: Notify the supervisor and other relevant departments of any major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions. Bill of Lading Preparation: Prepare bills of lading for outgoing shipments. Damage Claims: Complete required documentation for any in-transit damage. Material Handling: Transport materials on the shipping dock using a hand truck or other appropriate vehicles. Loading/Unloading: Operate a forklift for the purpose of loading and unloading trucks. Safety: Follow all company safety policies and protocols. Training: Complete all company-required training. Quality Assurance: Ensure tasks are completed according to the quality standards set by the company. Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements:
Required Skills / Abilities / Competencies
Verification Skills: Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items in incoming shipments. Warehouse Procedures: Basic understanding of dock and warehouse operations. Organizational Skills: Excellent ability to stay organized and maintain attention to detail. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records and create reports.
Education and Experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Experience: Prior experience in a similar role is highly beneficial. Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Mental/Physical Requirements
Mobility: Ability to move throughout the distribution warehouse, including stretching, squatting, and reaching to access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units. Lifting: Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Environmental Tolerance: Must be able to work in various weather conditions and temperatures, both in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
