Position Summary

The PT Trainer, Upward Bound provides training to high school students for the Upward Bound program. This is a temporary, grant-funded position with continuation dependent upon grant funding.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Provides training to high school students for Upward Bound program to prepare students for the upcoming academic year
  2. Develops training materials for assigned areas
  3. Takes attendance; maintains records of assignments and grades for all students
  4. Creates an interactive learning environment
  5. Provides training for standardized testing
  6. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the Upward Bound Program or TRIO programs
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Internet, knowledge of common office software including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good organizational skills

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, or driving. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • Equipment used includes a PC workstation on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher and at least 1 year of experience in secondary education or field of expertise

Salary: Hourly Pay Rate is $26.34
