Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – In office Tuesday through Thursday)

Compensation: $25 – $28 / hour
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

About Our Client: Addison Group is hiring for our client, a professional services organization, seeking an HR Assistant to provide support during a maternity leave coverage. This is a great opportunity for an HR professional to gain hands-on experience in payroll, benefits, and employee relations in a hybrid work environment.
Job Description: The HR Assistant will provide administrative and functional support across multiple areas of HR, including payroll, benefits, and employee documentation. This individual will maintain confidentiality, ensure accuracy in records and reports, and collaborate with various team members across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain hourly staff timecards, track attendance, and generate related reports
- Assist with semi-monthly payroll processing and reporting
- Update internal intranet pages with HR-related information
- Prepare new hire and employee separation paperwork
- Maintain personnel files and HR documentation (benefits, policies, procedures)
- Track benefit enrollments and acknowledgment forms
- Assist with scheduling support staff rotations
- Provide general HR administrative support as needed
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of HR or related administrative experience
- Familiarity with payroll and benefits processes; experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with document management systems a plus
- Strong confidentiality, organizational, and proofreading skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Professional demeanor with the ability to interact with a variety of personalities
- Prior experience in a law firm or professional services setting is a plus
Additional Details
- Contract role covering maternity leave (3–4 months, estimated through February or March)
- Hybrid schedule: required in-office Tuesday through Thursday, remote on other days
