Tri-Cities Community Health (TCCH) is looking for a Janitor (Part-time) who has a passion for helping others. As a community health center, located in southeastern Washington, serving Pasco, Kennewick, Richland and the surrounding communities.

Who are we?

Our community health center began as a modest sized medical clinic in Pasco, Washington in 1981. The clinic was founded by a small group of women in the Pasco community who saw the need to serve low income community members who could not afford to pay for Healthcare.

Tri-Cities Community Health has grown into a comprehensive non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) where we have evolved into a network of community health centers that continue with the foundation TCCH was built on and serve an even more diverse population in the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas.

Description:

Under the direction of the Janitor Supervisor, performs basic janitorial functions throughout the clinic locations to include minor grounds keeping activities. The janitor cleans walls, lights, fixtures, and furniture in all assigned areas of the Clinics to maintain an aseptic environment and prevent healthcare-associated infection using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. Cleans, waxes, extracts, and maintains floors, carpeting, and stairwells and assists with heavy cleaning throughout the Clinic system. Cleans biological spills, and moves hazardous waste to proper hazardous waste collection site within the facilities.

Essential functions:

  • Coordinates with supervisor to clean unoccupied offices and exam rooms, checks garbage cans and disposes of contents if appropriate, provides emergency cleaning services in the event of spills.
  • Spot cleans patient and/or client rooms, and staff offices and working areas.
  • Uses appropriate chemicals and techniques when washing and cleaning restrooms.
  • Performs periodic cleaning of high ledges, ceiling and light fixtures, and vents. Cleans doors and parts of showers and commodes subject to mineral deposit.
  • Deep cleans highly utilized areas (floor drains, behind toilets etc.…)
  • Dry and damp mops or machine scrubs corridors and elevator landings, according to assigned schedule. Sweeps stairwells and spot washes corridor and landing walls.
  • Maintains all carpets and hard floors (MCT and VCT).
  • Maintains facility grounds when instructed.
  • Sets up for meetings and events, hangs curtains, and checks the condition of the equipment.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.
  • Responsibly follows the clinics exposure control plans/bloodborne and airborne pathogens.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter- and intradepartmental to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Continuously displays a “can do” attitude within the department and across departmental lines to contribute to the overall customer service program in place at Clinic.
  • Carries out all other duties as assigned.

**This is a bargaining unit position**

Requirements

Work Experience: 1 year of custodial or janitorial experience preferred.

License/Certifications: Current WA State driver's license and proof of auto insurance.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to observe health and safety regulations. Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
