About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability in New York City. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, and creative expression, MAP creates safe, consistent, and empowering spaces for young people to thrive.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Volunteer Executive Assistant to provide direct support to MAP’s executive leadership. This role will focus on managing schedules, coordinating meetings, preparing communications, and ensuring organizational priorities are supported. It is an excellent opportunity for someone highly organized and detail-oriented who wants to gain experience in nonprofit leadership and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage executive calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate logistics
  • Draft, proofread, and edit communications, reports, and presentations
  • Maintain organized records, files, and task-tracking systems
  • Assist with preparation for board meetings, events, and external communications
  • Support follow-up on action items and ensure priorities are met
  • Serve as a point of contact between leadership and internal/external stakeholders
  • Provide general administrative support to the Executive Director and leadership team

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Drive, Gmail)
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Prior administrative or executive support experience (preferred but not required)
  • Commitment to MAP’s mission and equity-focused values

Commitment

  • Volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week
  • Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
  • Fully remote with virtual meetings
