Description

Main Industries has been serving the marine and industrial market for over 40 years, specializing in marine and industrial coatings as well as a variety of marine and industrial scaffolding. We are hiring for a full-time Marine Electrician/Maintenance Mechanic/Welder at our Hampton, VA location. The candidate should have knowledge and experience in 440 VAC powered equipment, HVAC/electronic component troubleshooting and repair, and commercial power distribution theories and techniques. A dependable work record and a clean background check are required. DBIDS access to Naval facilities is a plus. Travel may be necessary. Shipyard experience is highly preferred. Experience with basic blasting and painting equipment is a plus: dust collectors, ventilation blowers, industrial vacuums, heaters/AC units, blast pots, abrasive recycling equipment, deck blasting equipment, and electrical distribution panels.

Responsibilities

• Able to make connections of equipment to the distribution panel
• Understand and carry out verbal directions given by a supervisor as well as perform with minimal supervision
• Proficient in the use of basic electrical meters and test equipment (volt-ohm meter, clamp-on ammeter)
• Capable of installing both Russellstoll and Meltric plug connections
• Basic understanding of Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
• Demonstrate high level of critical thinking and troubleshooting ability
• Understand and obey all posted warning, caution, notification and/or hazard signs on a job site
• All candidates must submit to drug testing and E-Verification of their right to work in the US
• Reliable transportation is required
• Adherence to safety and quality standards
• Must be physically able to board large vessels via stairs or ladders while carrying necessary tools

Required experience: Five (5) years verified experience as a marine electrician in 440 VAC powered equipment.

Qualifications

• Forklift training/certification is a plus (additional training will be required for forklift operation)

Work Conditions

Travel may be necessary. Some projects may require overtime beyond the standard weekly schedule (no overtime is guaranteed).
