Purpose and Objectives of Position
The Hostperson is a member of the Food and Beverage team who assists in ensuring that guest service and food and beverage Brand standards are met. Hospitable, welcoming and friendly guest services are essential requirements of the position.
Responsibilities
- Greet and seat guests
- Answer the telephone/take reservations/manage reservations
- Stock menus
- Responsible for handling guest requests.
- Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Brand & Forbes standards.
- Ensure restaurant is clean at closing.
- Receive take-out orders both in person and over the telephone and follow up to ensure guest receives proper order.
Supportive Functions
- Assist server/busser/bartender as needed
- Additional duties not mentioned above may also be requested by supervisor
Qualifications
- Use written (verbal/visual) sources of information, e.g. read reports, procedural documentation, and reference materials.
- Use verbal auditory sources of information.
- Use non-verbal auditory sources of information, e.g. alarms.
- Ability to read, speak & write in English; use oral communication to perform work, e.g. answer telephone and receive guests.
- Make minor decisions requiring limited judgment, e.g. task sequencing; make general decisions in the absence of specific directions, e.g. prioritizing workload.
- Previous related experience preferred.
- Ability to remain calm & professional when working under pressure.
- Attend departmental meetings and trainings as necessary.
- Ability to be a team player.
- Maintain a positive attitude and set example among colleagues.
- Must be have full availability to work AM and PM shifts.
Grooming Standards
- Be able to adapt to hotel’s grooming standards and dress code
Physical Demands
- Stand; reach; grasp; lift/carry up to 10 lbs; walk; squat/ bend.
- Ability to stand for length of shift.
