Baylor University is seeking a Video Production Assistant who will ensure resource handling and maintenance to support video content for university courses and other video projects within the Experiential Learning department. The Grip/PA acts as production generalist, both studio and location, for setup/strike, camera support, lighting, audio, control room operation, and safety while on set. This role assists in logistical, equipment delivery/setup/strike/movement/return, and material and human needs for video production.
This is a temporary, 2-year assignment.
An Associate’s degree and less than one year of relevant work experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant work experience are preferred.
A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Preset (day prior), setup, strike and on set support of both studio and field-based video projects including gear prep (battery charging, inventory, assembly), delivery, setup, operation, strike, and return
- Enter faulty equipment into a repair queue, tracking progress until gear is returned for operation
- Assist in studio and location during shoots and fill in open positions where needed (2nd camera, audio, lighting cues, craft service, lunch orders, etc.)
- Maintain organization of gear & accessories, keep studios neat, clean and orderly, ready for next session, tours of studio, and other mechanical needs
- Work with the Manager, Academic Video Production and the Director of Experiential Learning to improve processes, workflows, communication and project management and scheduling software use
- Maintain inventory of expendables, re-ordering where necessary to maintain smooth, continuous operation of the studios
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
- Ability to comply with university policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
