Job Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising the housekeeping staff, inspecting rooms and public areas, providing general support and ensuring that compliance and performance standards are being met to achieve maximum guest satisfaction. The ideal individual for this position demonstrates a commitment to maintaining high quality standards and is detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the housekeeping staff which includes Room Attendants, Houseperson, Lobby and Laundry Attendants. Provide training, coaching, counseling, and performance feedback to ensure maximum efficiency and that procedures are followed according to brand and hotel standards and productivity levels are being met.
  • Inspect the cleaning of guest rooms and public areas to ensure compliance with the standard room set-up and that the hotel is cleaned to specifications to achieve a high level of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.
  • Issue supplies and linens to staff at beginning of shift to control inventory and ensure proper supplies are available.
  • Issue assignments to staff, reviewing special requests and areas of concentration to ensure a smooth flow of the housekeeping operation.
  • Perform regular inspections of back of house and storage rooms for sanitation and organization.
  • Greet guests and fellow associates in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Respond to guest questions, complaints and/or requests in a courteous manner to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Log items for Lost and Found and answer inquiries to maintain controls and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Be aware of guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Practice and ensure staff follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
  • Assist with onboarding and train new hires on required duties and responsibilities.
  • Open housekeeping department, run reports and conduct morning pre-shift meetings.
  • Close housekeeping department and perform closing duties.
  • Perform room attendant, houseperson, lobby attendant and laundry attendant duties when staffing shortages occur or during peak periods and assist in all housekeeping related tasks to ensure smooth housekeeping operations.
  • Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by management.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests, employees, and management.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Must possess good communication skills both written and verbal and able to understand and accurately follow instructions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Must be familiar with proper use of cleaning chemicals and be able to read and understand labels on chemical bottles and work with cleaning chemicals.
  • Attention to details with good time management skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to grasp, push/pull, lift/carry, and move up to 50-75 lbs.
  • Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, kneeling, and stooping.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years previous housekeeping experience
  • Supervisory experience a plus
