Carpentry Maintenance/Construction Worker – Location: Atlanta, Georgia. Regular, Full-Time. Job ID: 290897.

Job Summary

This position will take on lead responsibilities in the carpentry shop. It will also perform a variety of basic, semi-skilled mechanical and building trade tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment, as well as simple construction and fabrication work within assigned facilities. This position may supervise in the absence of the Carpenter Foreperson. Interacts with the unit supervisor and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect assigned buildings, fixtures, machines, appliances, and other units; note where maintenance or repair is required.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repair services on appliances, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC units, etc.
  • Install lavatory fixtures, ceilings, floor tiles, locks, glass, doors, etc.
  • Perform fabrication and finishing of walls, shelving, cabinetry, storage areas, etc., in constructing remodeled or expanded facilities.
  • Coordinate maintenance and construction work performed by contractors.
  • May provide design input.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements: High school diploma, GED Certificate, or Vocational School Diploma.
  • Two to three years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree, or two years of college coursework.
  • Painting experience (Sanding, Scraping, and Priming).
  • Previous experience in residential, commercial or industrial painting.
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License.

Salary

Pay Range: $21.20-$28.83/hr.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Basic skills in carpentry, electrical systems, fabrication, general construction, mechanical, plumbing, staging, and equipment installation; use of power hand tools including a circular saw, hammer drill, air operated tools, common hand tools, ladders and scaffolding, drill press, table, and band saw, outdoor power equipment, forklift.
