Job Purpose We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic Accounting / Finance team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, as well as a strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, participating in the month-end close process, supporting audits, and tax filings. This role reports directly to the Director of Accounting in Chicago and will help mold the future of the North America Accounting / Finance team.
Responsibilities Execute the monthly general ledger close process and required reporting; ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
Prepare complex accounting journal entries and collaborate with other departments to gather pertinent data for month-end close.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including supporting schedules and documentation.
Assist in the documentation of accounting processes and procedures.
Respond to accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Prepare supporting documents and perform tasks related to the external audit.
Partner with the Accounting / Finance Leaders to improve / implement accounting processes.
Compile, analyze and distribute routine and ad hoc financial reports.
Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
Assist with special projects, such as system implementations, process improvements, and ad-hoc financial analysis.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
Prior experience working in a manufacturing company is preferred.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., One Stream, Epicor preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookup).
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Detail oriented and ability to work with minimal supervision.
