Overview
Job Description Raleigh Water is seeking two skilled Electricians to join our Resource Recovery Division. In this role, you’ll install, test, maintain, and repair a wide variety of electrical systems and components that keep our facilities running safely and efficiently. You’ll troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, identify fixture and equipment failures, and determine whether repair or replacement is needed. The position also maintains accurate records of all work performed and may assist with general facility maintenance as needed. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of diagnosing complex electrical issues with accuracy and efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures the proper functioning of electrical systems; to include installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment
- Responds to and troubleshoots power interruptions. Collaborates with other maintenance staff to keep operations running efficiently
- Keeps detailed records of work performed and documents this information in the maintenance management system
- Changes lightbulbs, replaces batteries, and performs a variety of general facilities maintenance and repair work as needed
Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience: High School diploma or (GED) and 1 to 3 years’ experience as a journey level electrician or related work OR any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted
Licensing and Certifications: Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire. This role will be required to operate a City-owned vehicle in order to travel to various job sites on a regular basis. Journeyman Electrician License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of: Electrical principles, circuits, wiring, and components
- Knowledge of: Electrical safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment
- Skill In: Installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment and systems
- Skill In: Identifying and addressing electrical problems using critical and analytical thinking
- Ability to: Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics for troubleshooting and maintenance
- Ability to: Troubleshoot and fix electrical issues
