Overview Early-stage startup is looking for an HR Generalist to join their team. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative team and serve as an HR leader and thought partner as they scale. In this role, you will serve as an account manager to various clients, providing guidance on compliance, HR-related processes, and employment laws. You will track and analyze key metrics while collaborating with the team on product development. Someone with strong client-facing skills and a data-driven mindset who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Experience and knowledge of HR practices and employment laws are essential. This is a remote role. 100-130K DOE + equity, benefits, and flexible PTO.
Responsibilities
Manage and advise clients on HR operations, including compliance and processes, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations. Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing tailored HR solutions to meet their unique needs. Provide guidance on payroll, workers' compensation, offer letters, contractor agreements, on/offboarding, benefits, employee relations, performance management, parental leave policies, terminations, and conflict resolution, supporting both clients and their employees in maintaining a positive work environment. Oversee the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs, including employee handbooks, offer letters, and onboarding materials. Stay informed about changing HR laws and regulations, updating clients, and ensuring compliance across all aspects of HR operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering and Product Development, to ensure HR processes are integrated effectively into broader company initiatives. Partner closely with the team on product development to gain insights into HR processes and provide feedback to help fine-tune technology solutions. Contribute to the growth and success of startup environments by being flexible, wearing multiple hats, and taking on new challenges as they arise. Qualifications
2-4 years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role, with a strong understanding of HR compliance and processes. Strong client-service skills. Proven ability to manage client relationships, including being client-facing and handling multiple clients simultaneously. Knowledgeable about state labor laws and regulations, with the ability to ensure compliance across different jurisdictions. Experience in HR compliance, including creating and managing offer letters, employee handbooks, and other HR documentation. Excited about working in a startup environment, with a willingness to take on diverse responsibilities and be resourceful in finding solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, engineers, and cross-functional teams. A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and priorities.
