The Procurement Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that support the company's operational goals while maintaining cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery. This role oversees the day-to-day procurement functions, vendor relationships, and inventory management, and directly supervises Purchasing team members to ensure efficient and accurate purchasing practices.
Requirements:
Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies to support production schedules and operational needs.
Supervise and provide leadership to the Purchasing team, including task oversight, performance management, and development.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure the best terms, pricing, and quality.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers; monitor supplier performance.
Analyze purchasing trends, costs, and vendor performance to identify areas for improvement.
Work cross-functionally with departments such as Production, Engineering, and Finance to align purchasing strategies with company objectives.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the warehouse or production to optimize stock levels without over-purchasing.
Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards in all procurement activities.
Manage procurement reporting, including metrics on cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory turns.
Resolve any procurement-related issues or delays with urgency and professionalism.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
5+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain roles.
2+ years of supervisory experience .
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of procurement practices, supply chain processes, and vendor management.
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make sound business decisions.
Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel; ability to generate and interpret procurement reports.
Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of cost savings and supplier performance improvement.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across departments and with external vendors.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
High level of integrity and attention to detail.
Working knowledge of contract terms and applicable compliance regulations.
Ability to identify and implement process improvements for procurement efficiency.
Comfortable with strategic planning as well as hands-on, day-to-day purchasing activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises the Purchasing team, including task delegation, training, coaching, and performance evaluation.
Ensures adherence to company purchasing policies and procedures within the purchasing function.
Monitors workload and supports prioritization to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
Provides guidance and development opportunities to enhance the performance and growth of direct reports.
Collaborates with leadership to align procurement staffing needs with company objectives
Travel
This role requires minimal travel, primarily for training purposes. Travel will be limited and scheduled in advance.
