The Purchasing Manager will oversee and direct the procurement of goods and services, with a strong focus on capital project purchasing. This role is responsible for ensuring our client obtains high-quality materials, equipment, and supplies on schedule and at the most cost-effective prices. By maintaining an efficient supply chain, the Purchasing Manager plays a key role in supporting the success of capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
Capital Project Purchasing : Support large capital projects in coordination with the project team to negotiate, contract, order, and track all purchasing required for the projects to adhere to the project schedule and specifications.
Sourcing and Vetting Suppliers:
Identify, evaluate, and select potential suppliers based on factors such as quality, price, reliability, and ethical practices.
Contract Negotiations:
Work with vendors to negotiate favorable pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
Contract Management:
Manage vendor/supplier contracts to ensure compliance with terms, cost efficiency, service/goods quality, and on-time performance
Developing Strategy:
Create and implement procurement strategies and policies to optimize costs, reduce risks, and improve efficiency.
Managing Vendor Relationships:
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with suppliers.
Inventory Management:
Analyze demand, forecast future needs, and monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
Cost Tracking:
Track purchasing metrics and performance to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
Collaboration:
Planning and coordinating the work of buyers and purchasing agents, and handling staff training and management.
Cost Reductions:
Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans for key or high-spend categories
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate policies by monitoring procurement activities and maintaining adherence to approved authorization limits.
Purchase Orders/Requisitions:
Review purchase orders/requisitions for accuracy and compliance while ensuring timely and efficient procurement of goods and services.
Supervision:
Supervise and provide guidance to the Purchasing team, including workload management, training, and performance support.
Reporting:
Monitor and track open purchase commitments, and prepare regular reports on vendor negotiations, contract status, and purchase order progress to support informed decision-making.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education:
A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, finance, or a related field is .
Experience:
Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of contracts and supply chain management. Capital project experience .
