Travel General Information • Beds: 15 bed Pediatric Unit; 5 Bed PICU
• Experience required: 1.5 years general nursing experience (system requirement)
• Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, only if greater than 2 years of experience (system requirement)
• Patient Types: • Will work through both Gen Peds and PICU
• Pediatrics: Patients 0-18 years of age and adult overflow (stable medical - s/p appendectomy, s/p cholecystectomy, cellulitis, etc.). The diagnosis of these patients varies from respiratory illness, diabetes, septicemia, cellulitis, hyperbilirubinemia, neglect/abuse, mental health, trauma, neurology, and general surgeries. The general surgeries may include ear/nose/throat, gastrointestinal, urological, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and trauma.
• Advanced Care Pediatrics: Patients 0-18 years of age requiring critical or intensive care services. The most common disease entities you may care for in our Advanced Care Pediatrics Unit include but are not limited to:?acute and chronic respiratory insufficiency, circulatory failure, infectious diseases leading to major organ system dysfunction, endocrine and metabolic disorders, neurologic diseases, toxic ingestions/exposures, trauma, hematologic and oncologic disease.
• Patient Ratios: • RN - • General Pediatrics - 1:5
• Advanced Care Pediatrics: 1:1-2
• Required Certifications: • RN: BLS, PALS, NIHSS • NRP is
not
required
• Required Education: • Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
