Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking an Electrician, Maintenance Technician II for our Carson, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We are the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems and a North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are used on aircraft, aerospace engines, industrial gas turbines, automobiles, and construction and industrial equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform technician work including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Connect power supply wires to machines and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment.
- Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors and lighting fixtures; replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
- Test malfunctioning machinery and discuss issues with appropriate personnel to diagnose problems.
- Replace faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, and sensors.
- Replace PLCs.
- Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical devices in manufacturing equipment.
- Strictly adhere to safety regulations and plant policies.
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's tools and equipment.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance during machine service.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, repair or replace parts, test and make adjustments.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report these and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
Essential Knowledge & Skills
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work on oily and noisy machinery.
- Knowledge of or experience with screw machines, drillers, tappers, and other manufacturing equipment, and ability to troubleshoot these machines.
- Physically able to stand, bend, reach, stretch, and lift 15-30 pounds repetitively.
- Detail oriented with the ability to follow oral and written directions and work unsupervised.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician
- Legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Access to export-controlled items; employment offers conditioned upon ability to lawfully obtain access
