About The Position Wellhart is seeking a Family Practice physician for a locum tenens position at a correctional facility in Nevada. This 6-month assignment begins on 11/01/2025 and requires an Physician specializing in Family Practice to provide comprehensive medical care to inmates/residents. The position involves working 8-hour days, 40 hours per week, with responsibilities including patient examinations, diagnoses, treatment, and follow-up care. The physician will also play a leadership role in the medical program, participate in treatment team meetings, and ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare services within the correctional setting. This role requires strong clinical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently while adhering to facility policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities and Duties: • Provide comprehensive medical services to inmates/residents • Conduct patient examinations, diagnose medical problems, and prescribe treatments • Participate in treatment team meetings and individual health plan development • Perform minor surgeries and occasional major surgeries as necessary • Hold clinics and provide guidance to nursing specialists • Monitor and review healthcare operations and standards of care • Maintain medical records and ensure confidentiality • Evaluate and improve operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness • Facilitate accreditation processes (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO) where applicable • Provide health counseling and education • Communicate effectively with administration, staff, and inmates/residents • Participate in on-call rotations
Additional Information: • Must be licensed in Nevada • Social Security card required for facility clearance • Comfortable working in a correctional setting • Possibility of assignment extension
