Senior Transit Architect

Key responsibilities include coordinating an architectural/engineering team in preparing documents for transportation-focused projects. The ideal candidate will perform the initial design phase and detailed phases of architectural design, requiring interface and collaboration with various disciplines, clients, and consultants.
Prepares architectural plans , and/or supervises their execution. Analyze design and construction systems, planning studies, design layouts, and construction details. Oversee research used in writing specifications, including coordination with manufacturers. Conduct site and construction inspections for information gathering, preparing interpretive reports. Execute code analysis, material selections, and technical solutions. Analyze design and construction systems and features, researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work. Coordinate with other disciplines. Plan, schedule, coordinate, manage, and oversee work. Required Experience
Professional Degree in Architecture (B. Arch or M. Arch preferred). Minimum of 15 years of experience as a project architect in the rail/transit sector. Transit architecture design experience including station and related facilities is required. Registered/Licensed Architect in the State of New York. Experience in the transportation sector is required. Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with OpenBuildings, Rhino, 3-D Max, SketchUp is a plus; LEED Accreditation is also a plus. Excellent design, technical detailing, and strong presentation skills, both verbal and visual. Self-starter with problem-solving skills, teamwork orientation, and a strong focus on client needs. Essential Duties Include
Determine with multiple design disciplines the technical approach and design criteria for projects. Lead and coach architectural staff. Perform independent investigations, studies, and architectural analysis. Develop design details, plans, and specifications. Serve as quality control reviewer. Use computer software as a design tool for solving complex architectural problems. Contribute new designs or techniques significant to solving important problems. Remain current in codes and technologies relevant to architecture, including IBC, NFPA, etc. Ensure conformance with standards, established architectural practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction. Review shop drawings and RFIs. Compensation
